GINGER CRANBERRY ORANGE SCONES

flaky, buttery, & delicious!

WHY YOU SHOULD MAKE THESE SCONES

They're easy & make-ahead. These scones are delicious with coffee or tea. Make them for breakfast, brunch, snacking, & more!

INGREDIENTS

- CRANBERRIES (FRESH OR DRIED) - ORANGE ZEST - CANDIED GINGER - UNSALTED BUTTER - HEAVY CREAM - BAKING POWDER - FLOUR - SALT - SUGAR - EGGS

01

BUTTER + FLOUR

1. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, & orange zest. 2. Toss the butter into the flour mixture. 3. Use clean hands to "cut" the butter into the flour.

02

ADD WET INGREDIENTS

1. Add the cranberries & candied ginger. 2. Whisk the cream & egg. 3. Add the cream-egg mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until you have a thick dough.

03

CUT + BAKE

1. Roll the dough until it's 1-inch thick. 2. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out the scones. 3. Sprinkle with raw sugar & bake the scones until they're golden-brown.

PRO-TIP

To make sure that these scones are super flaky, use very cold butter! To keep the butter cold, just pop it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before mixing the dough.

SHOULD I USE FRESH OR DRIED CRANBERRIES?

That depends on your taste! If you like tart berry flavors, use fresh. If you want the fruit to be sweeter & chewy, then use dried cranberries instead.

MAKE-AHEAD

These scones can be frozen and baked later! Just cut out the scones, freeze until solid, and store them in an airtight container for 2-3 months.
