SMOKED TRI-TIP

on a pellet smoker (Traeger)

- This tri-tip has just a handful of ingredients. - It's simple to make. - This recipe makes a big batch for a crowd - amazing for a BBQ or dinner party!

THE INGREDIENTS

All you need to make this smoked tri-tip is two ingredients! - Tri-tip - Dry rub (homemade or store-bought)

01 DRY RUB

Start by patting the tri-tip dry. Sprinkle a generous amount of homemade or store-bought tri-tip dry rub on the roast. Refrigerate for 2+ hours.

02 PREP

Set up the smoker with wood chips or pellets. Preheat the smoker to 225°F. Then, place the seasoned tri-tip on the grates of the smoker. Insert a thermometer into the thickest part.

03 SMOKE

Close the lid and smoke for 1 1/2-2 hours, until it reaches 120-125°F. Keep adding wood pellets or chips, as needed.

04 SEAR

Sear the tri-tip on the smoker, on the grill, or in a cast iron skillet. (Whatever you like!) Let the tri-tip rest & slice against the grain. Enjoy!

DO I NEED TO SPRITZ OR WRAP THE TRI-TIP?

Nope! Since this tri-tip cooks for less than 2 hours, it won't lose much moisture. You will not need to spritz or wrap it during smoking.
