CINNAMON STAR BREAD

THE INGREDIENTS

- Milk - Active dry yeast - Sugar - Butter - Vanilla extract - Eggs - Salt - Flour - Cookie butter - Cinnamon - Powdered sugar

S T E P 1

Mix the milk, sugar, yeast, butter, vanilla, egg, salt, & flour in a bowl. Knead & let it rise until doubled. Divide the dough & roll into four circles.

Mix the cookie butter & cinnamon for the filling. Spread the filling on one round of dough. Repeat, stacking the dough until you have four layers of dough.

Place a 2-inch bowl or cookie cutter in the center of the dough. Use a cookie cutter to cut 16 even strips around the center of the dough.

Grab 2 adjacent strips of dough with each hand. Twist the strips two times in the opposite direction. Press the ends together to make a point & seal well.

Cover the assembled star bread with a linen and let it rise until puffy. Brush the egg wash & bake until it's golden-brown. Dust with powdered sugar.

- USE CHOCOLATE SPREAD INSTEAD OF COOKIE BUTTER - TRY JAM FOR THE FILLING - USE CARDAMOM INSTEAD OF CINNAMON

A MAKE-AHEAD OPTION!

To make cookie butter cinnamon star bread in advance, shape the bread, wrap it well, & place it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, let it warm for 20 minutes & bake.

SERVING IDEAS

Serve cookie butter cinnamon star bread with hot coffee, tea, eggnog, Irish coffee, or white Russians. My favorite is a cup of hot coffee!
