(Norwegian mulled wine)

THIS COCKTAIL IS GREAT FOR...

THE INGREDIENTS

- Cinnamon sticks - Cardamom pods - Whole cloves - Ginger - Oranges - Dry red wine - Bourbon or vodka - Sugar - Vanilla extract - Blanched almonds - Dried cranberries or raisins

WRAP THE SPICES

1. Lightly crush the cinnamon sticks & cardamom pods. 2. Place all of the spices in the middle of a square of cheesecloth. 3. Tie with kitchen twine to secure the spice bag.

MIX IT UP

1. Mix the wine, bourbon, sugar, vanilla, spices, almonds, & cranberries in a pot. 2. Heat & cook until steamy. 3. Taste & add more sugar if you like a sweeter cocktail.

STEEP & WARM

1. Remove the mulled wine from the heat. 2. Steep for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours. 3. Gently reheat the gløgg on the stove. Ladle into mugs and enjoy!

MAKE IT IN A SLOW COOKER!

To make Norwegian gløgg in a slow cooker, just combine everything in the pot. Set to LOW and cook until it's steaming. Turn off the slow cooker, steep, & re-warm!

MAKE-AHEAD

After you steep the mulled wine, let it cool. Refrigerate & gently reheat on the stove or slow cooker when you're ready to enjoy!
