Crispy prosciutto is my latest obsession, so obviously I had to use it on these prosciutto & burrata crostini! Topped with a drizzle of hot honey, this appetizer is super quick, easy, and full of flavor. And, all you need is 5 ingredients, could it get any better?

At our last Cocktail Club, which incidentally has turned more into Snacks & Build Your Own Drinks Club, we did a picnic theme to kick off summer. Naturally picnics = handheld foods and handheld foods = sandwiches which got me brainstorming my contribution to the festivities!

One of my favorite sandwiches of all time is any kind of prosciutto and burrata situation. But in keeping with the spirit of Cocktail Club, I decided to make things even easier with one of my all-time favorite party snacks – crostini!

Like my melon prosciutto skewers, these small bites are inspired by a classic Italian combo. But instead of using prosciutto straight from the deli, I gave it a little crisp which is a trick I originally learned when I was in culinary school. I also topped everything with a little hot honey for spice, but balsamic glaze would be welcome here too.

If you love a bee sting pizza, make sure to give this recipe a save. It’s such a crowd pleaser! xx.

All you need is 5 things

White and brown bowls of bread, mozzarella, deli meat, black pepper, and hot honey on a beige counter.

Not to be too obvious here, but you’ll need some crostini! I use homemade crostini but feel free to go with store-bought if you’re looking for a little hack. Then, grab some hot honey. I always have a jar of bourbon hot honey on hand, but again, store-bought is totally fine.

For the toppings, all you need is burrata cheese, black pepper, and prosciutto. If your grocery store has a deli, it’s totally worth having the prosciutto freshly sliced. Plus, it’s so much more affordable than buying a bunch of small packages!

Hot tip – this crostini is also amazing with a sprinkle of chopped pistachios on top. 🙂

Crisp the prosciutto

Bake the prosciutto at 400°F (204°C) for 10-12 minutes. It will crisp up more as it cools.

A no cook option

I absolutely love the crunch of the crisped prosciutto. But if you want to skip a step, feel free to top the crostini with regular prosciutto instead. Just fold slices of freshly-sliced prosciutto and place them on top of the toasts. Super easy and still so delicious, especially as a summertime app!

Finish with hot honey & pepper!

The crostini will get soggy after an hour or two, so I definitely like to serve this app right away. It’s amazing with a dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc!

Quick & Easy Prosciutto Burrata Crostini

Yield: 24 crostini
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Crispy prosciutto is my latest obsession, so obviously I had to use it on these prosciutto & burrata crostini! Topped with a drizzle of hot honey, this appetizer is super quick, easy, and full of flavor. And, all you need is 5 ingredients!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces freshly-sliced prosciutto (226 grams)
  • 24 homemade crostini or store-bought
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese (226 grams)
  • 2 Tablespoons hot honey, more to taste (30 milliliters)
  • Freshly-cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Crispy Prosciutto

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Working one at a time, fold each slice of prosciutto into a small pile. Space the piles on the prepared sheet pan about 1/2-inch apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the prosciutto is darkened and mostly crisp.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and let the prosciutto cool completely. It will crisp up more as it cools. Break the prosciutto piles into smaller, bite-size pieces.

Burrata Crostini

  • Divide the burrata between the crostini. Make sure to get both the mozzarella shell and the straciatella (the creamy curds inside the cheese) on each piece!
  • Place a few pieces of the crispy prosciutto on each crostini. Drizzle the crostini with hot honey. Sprinkle freshly-cracked black pepper on top for garnish. Enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to skip crisping the prosciutto for a no-cook app. Just pile freshly-sliced prosciutto on top of each crostini instead.
